The Treasury Annex, located across the street from the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Department_of_the_Treasury" class="extiw" title="en:United States Department of the Treasury">U.S. Department of the Treasury</a> <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treasury_Building_(Washington,_D.C.)" class="extiw" title="en:Treasury Building (Washington, D.C.)">headquarters</a>, at 701 <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madison_Place" class="extiw" title="en:Madison Place">Madison Place</a> <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northwest,_Washington,_D.C." class="extiw" title="en:Northwest, Washington, D.C.">NW</a> (on the corner of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania_Avenue" class="extiw" title="en:Pennsylvania Avenue">Pennsylvania Avenue</a> and Madison Place NW.), in downtown <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington,_D.C." class="extiw" title="en:Washington, D.C.">Washington, D.C.</a> The Treasury Annex houses the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Office_of_Foreign_Assets_Control" class="extiw" title="en:Office of Foreign Assets Control">Office of Foreign Assets Control</a> and the headquarters and main branch of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treasury_Department_Federal_Credit_Union" class="extiw" title="en:Treasury Department Federal Credit Union">Treasury Department Federal Credit Union</a>. Designed by noted architect <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cass_Gilbert" class="extiw" title="en:Cass Gilbert">Cass Gilbert</a>, construction of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaux-Arts_architecture" class="extiw" title="en:Beaux-Arts architecture">Beaux-Arts</a> Treasury Annex was completed in 1919. The building is designated a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contributing_property" class="extiw" title="en:Contributing property">contributing property</a> to the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lafayette_Square_Historic_District_(Washington,_D.C.)" class="extiw" title="en:Lafayette Square Historic District (Washington, D.C.)">Lafayette Square Historic District</a>, listed on the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Register_of_Historic_Places" class="extiw" title="en:National Register of Historic Places">National Register of Historic Places</a> in 1970. The Treasury Annex is also designated a D.C. Historic Landmark, listed on the District of Columbia Inventory of Historic Sites in 1964. A plaque marking the former headquarters of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedman%27s_Savings_Bank" class="extiw" title="en:Freedman's Savings Bank">Freedman's Savings and Trust Company</a> (more commonly known as the Freedman's Bank, pictured <a href="//commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Freedman%27s_Savings_Bank.jpg" title="File:Freedman's Savings Bank.jpg">here</a>) is located on the west face of the Treasury Annex.
