Summary

A U.S. Air Force Fairchild Republic A-10A Thunderbolt II (s/n 81-991) from the 91st Tactical Fighter Squadron flies over the French Pyrennes Mountains while taking part in a training mission along the French and Spanish border during the squadron's deployment to Zaragoza Air Base, Spain. The nose art on this particular aircraft signifies that it belonged to the squadron commander and represented an example of the U.S. Air Force's attempt to reinstate this tradition. The 91st TFS was assigned to the 81st Tactical Fighter Wing at RAF Bentwaters, Suffolk (UK). The pilot in the picture is Lt Col John Lieberherr, then Commander of the 91 TFS.
