Summary

Boat of Garten station, Strathspey Railway, 1986.
View southward, towards Aviemore. Originally the station was shared between the Highland Railway, whose main line ran through here between Perth and Inverness via Forres, and the GNSR whose branch ran from here to Craigellachie. These lines were closed from 18/10/65 - although remained open for goods from Aviemore until 4/11/68, but have been restored from Aviemore, currently as far as Broomhill, in stages since 1972 by the Strathspey (Heritage Railway). On the left is Ivatt LMS 2-6-0 46512 awaiting restoration - and being named 'E.V. Cooper, Engineer'
