President Kennedy holds his first press conference in the State Department Auditorium. It is the first regular Presidential press conference to be televised live. The President announces the release by the Soviet Union of two surviving U.S. Air Force crewman from an RB-47 jet shot down in the Barents Sea on July 1, 1960.
