Summary

This photograph shows several <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/television_news" class="extiw" title="w:television news">television news</a> organizations' <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/production_truck" class="extiw" title="w:production truck">production trucks</a> in a transmitting position. These trucks are used for <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/on_location" class="extiw" title="w:on location">on location</a> <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/remote_broadcasting" class="extiw" title="w:remote broadcasting">remote broadcasting</a> of TV news stories. The <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/parabolic_dish" class="extiw" title="w:parabolic dish">microwave dishes</a> on retractable telescoping masts are extended to transmit live video back to the studio. The microwave beam must have a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/line-of-sight_propagation" class="extiw" title="w:line-of-sight propagation">line-of-sight</a> path to the studio's antenna, so tall masts are needed to raise the dish above obstructions like buildings.
