Renee Ilene Sandstrom (born February 15, 1974), an American singer and former child actress better known by her stage name, Renee Sands. She is best known for her role as Renee on Kids Incorporated.
Career
Sands was born in Worcester, Massachusetts.
She has also been a member of the vocal trio Wild Orchid, which also included former "Kids Incorporated" co-star and her TV sister Stacy Ferguson and Stefanie Ridel. She has opened for acts including Wayne Newton, Bob Hope, and Debbie Reynolds and sang backup with other "Kids Incorporated" cast members on Martika's hit "Toy Soldiers".[2]
Sands provided the singing voice for Princess Fiona in the movies Shrek and Shrek 2[citation needed], appearing alongside former "Kids Incorporated" cast member Moosie Drier, who did ADR voice work for the films. She was also in Far Far Away Idol and played Young Darlene in California Indian. Renee now sings on children's albums for Disney Records.
Sands voiced Tyra Banks on Family Guy in 2007.
Sands sings "Pump it Up", which was used as the theme song on the Crystal Light commercials, according to Kraft Foods, Inc.[citation needed] She sang "Just Like We Dreamed It" with Ruben Martinez as the 15th anniversary theme for Disneyland Paris. She had a role in the Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock, providing the singing voice for Jasmine Richards' character Margaret "Peggy" Dupree, singing the song "Here I Am". She sang "Love From Afar" on the soundtrack for Just Friends.
On October 10, 2008, Renee was married in a private ceremony in Los Angeles. [3] In 2012 Renee sang with Eagle Eye on their song "I Think I Like You". "I Think I Like You" is featured in the second season of Dance Moms.[4]
