Richard "Richie" Eyres (born rugby league and rugby union footballer of the 1980s and '90s playing representative rugby league (RL) for Great Britain, England, and Wales, and at club level for Widnes St. Maries ARLFC, Widnes (twice), Leeds, Warrington Wolves, Sheffield Eagles, and Swinton Lions, as a Second-row, or Loose forward/Lock, i.e. number 11 or 12, or 13, and playing club level rugby union (RU) for Neath RFC, and Coventry R.F.C..[1][2]

Playing career
International honours
Richie Eyres won a cap for England while at Widnes in 1992 against Wales,[3] won caps for Wales while at Leeds in 1995 against England, France, and in the 1995 Rugby League World Cup, against France, Western Samoa, and England, and while at Swinton in 1998 against England, and in 1999 against Ireland, and Scotland, and won caps for Great Britain while at Widnes in 1989 against France (sub), in 1991 against France, and France (sub), in 1992 in the 1989–1992 Rugby League World Cup against France (sub), and Australia (sub), in 1993 against France (2 matches), and while at Leeds in 1993 against New Zealand (sub) (2 matches).[4]
Richie Eyres is unusual in having initially represented England and then gone onto represent Wales.
World Club Challenge appearances
Richie Eyres played Loose forward/Lock and scored a try in Widnes' 30–18 victory over Canberra Raiders in the 1989 World Club Challenge at Old Trafford, Manchester on Wednesday 4 October 1989.
County Cup final appearances
Richie Eyres played Right-Second-row, i.e. number 11, in Widnes' 24-18 victory over Salford in the 1990 Lancashire Cup final during the 1990–91 season at Central Park, Wigan on Saturday 29 September 1990.
John Player Special/Regal Trophy final appearances
Richie Eyres played Loose forward/Lock in Widnes' 6-12 defeat by Wigan in the 1988–89 John Player Special Trophy final during the 1988–89 season at Burnden Park, Bolton on Saturday 7 January 1989,[5] and played Right-Second-row, i.e. number 12, in the 24-0 victory over Leeds in the 1991–92 Regal Trophy final during the 1991–92 season at Central Park, Wigan on Saturday 11 January 1992.
