The rufous piculet (Sasia abnormis) is a species of bird in the Picidae family. It is found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. This species is one of the world's smallest woodpeckers and is the smallest woodpecker found outside of the Americas. In this species the length can range from 8 to 10 cm (3.1 to 3.9 in) and the average body mass is around 9.2 g (0.32 oz).[2][3]
