Marcel Schirmer, born on 22 December 1966,[1] is a German heavy metal musician. Commonly known as Schmier, he is a founding member of the thrash metal band Destruction, where he is the lead vocalist and bass player.[2] He left Destruction in 1989 to form Headhunter and reunited with them in 1999.[2] Schmier owned a pizzeria named Barracuda in Istein, but sold it in 2006. He lives in Freiburg im Breisgau.[2] Around late 2014, he formed The German Panzer, a teutonic heavy metal trio which consists of guitarist Herman Frank (Accept, Victory), and drummer Stefan Schwarzmann (Accept).

Equipment

Schmier plays a custom made Dean V bass and uses for amplification Trace Elliot Bass Amp 450W, Sans Amp, and Boss Noisegate effects. His speakers are Ampeg 8x10 Classic.[3]
