WBEE-FM (92.5 FM) is a country music formatted radio station in the Rochester, New York, radio market. It is owned by Entercom Communications, who acquired the station from Sinclair Broadcasting in 1999.

The station is usually 1 or 2 in listenership in the Rochester area according to Arbitron.

History

The station adopted its current format in April 1987. Prior to becoming WBEE the station had a variety of formats including all news WNWZ and then better known album rock format Magic 92 as WMJQ until flipping to a pop format Q92 and eventually to country as WBEE. The station's studios are located at Entercom Rochester's High Falls Studios downtown, and its transmitter tower is in Penfield, New York.

WBEE is also the former call sign of the AM station in Harvey, Illinois now known as WBGX.

Programming

The award winning Morning Show, "The BEE Morning Coffee Club" weekdays 5:30am to 10am, is hosted by Steve Hausmann and Jeremy Newman and TJ Sharp.

The program was hosted by various people including Jim Kelly, Uncle Fred Horton and Bill Coffey until his death in 2005. Longtime co-host host Terry Clifford moved to the 10-3pm "midday morning show" in August 2015.[1]

Billy Kidd hosts the afternoon drive from 3-7pm and Justine Paige hosts 7-midnight. Up until the departure of long time overnight host Dave Beck, the station had live talent 24 hours a day on weekdays, one of the few radio stations in the country that did.

Features

A long feature of the station is its "Guitars and Stars" which is held at the Dome Arena in Henrietta, New York and features up and coming country music stars in an acoustic setting to benefit the Ronald McDonald House.

In the past the station also hosted "Random Acts of Country" where an up-and-coming country music star would show up and play without prior public notice at a local bar or restaurant in the Rochester area.
