The 1975 World Snooker Championship was a professional snooker tournament that took place in Melbourne, Australia.[1] The final was held at the Nunawading Basketball Centre.[2]

Ray Reardon won in the final 31–30 against Eddie Charlton.

Tournament summary

  • With Park Drive having ended their sponsorship,[1] the World Championship was awarded to Eddie Charlton Promotions.[3]
  • Dennis Taylor achieved his best championship by reaching the semi-final, losing against local player Eddie Charlton 12–19.[4]
  • The final was the first in the modern game to go the full distance, with Ray Reardon winning 31–30.[1]
  • This was the last world championship to be held outside the United Kingdom. It took place in Middlesbrough and Manchester the following year and in the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield from 1977 onwards.[1]
  • David Taylor made the highest break of the tournament with 128.[5]
