The Second Coming Prophecy is an episode in the life of Jesus that appears in all three synoptic gospels: Matthew 24:1–31, Mark 13:1–27 and Luke 21:5–36.[1][2] In this episode Jesus explains to his Apostles the concept of his return from Heaven, to where he ascended to sit at the Right Hand of God. This episode forms the basis for the Christian belief in the Second Coming of Christ.
According to the Gospel of Matthew:
Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.[3]
In all three Gospels, this episode includes the parable of The Budding Fig Tree.[4]
