Calypso Deep, located in the Ionian Sea south-west of Pylos, Greece, is the deepest part of the Mediterranean Sea, with a maximum depth of 5,267 m (17,280 ft), at Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found..[1][2]
At the Calypso Deep, the African Plate slides under the Aegean Sea Plate, creating the Hellenic Trench.[3][4]
