The Egyptian national handball team is the national handball team of Egypt and is controlled by the Egyptian Handball Federation.

History

Old logo

The Team's performance in the '90s boosted the sport's popularity in the country and attracted media and official attention, especially after scoring a huge upset against former World champions Romania in the 1995 World Men's Handball Championship held in Iceland.

Egypt also became the first non-European team to reach the World Championship semi-finals in the 2001 Men's tournament that was held in France. The Egyptians dubbed that team as the "Dream Team".

• Ahmed Mostafa ElAhmar The best player to come in Egypt's history. Left Handed and very talented player. Played for zamalek for many years. Now at Flensborg in Germany.
• Mohamed El Alfy One of the best handball players in Egypt's history and a very talented coach, he played for Heliopolis, Ahly and National team captain.
• Alaa Elsayed (Arabic: علاء السيد‎‎) skipper of the first Egyptian National Handball to Win the African Championship in Cairo 1991, played for Altayaran Club, later became administrative manager of the National Team
• Hamada El Rooby(Arabic: حمادة الروبي‎‎) One of the best goalkeepers in Egyptian history and was in the dream of 2001 who took 4th place in the World Cup.
• Ahmed Belal (Arabic: أحمد بلال‎‎) Mastermind of the Egyptian National Team for a decade, played for Olympic Club of Alexandria, played in Germany, and his sons Aly, Karim and Omar Belal play for Smouha Club
• Ashraf Awaad (Arabic: أشرف عواض‎‎) skipper of the Egyptian youth team who won the World Youth Cup in Cairo 1993, to be the first non-European to win a world title at any level in handball, member of the Awaad clan who provided Egyptian Handball by several members namely Hazem and Belal.hussein, hassan, ibrahim and the young boy abdul rahman, played for Al Ahly

• Hassan Yousry (Arabic: حسن يسري‎‎) The mastermind of the Egyptian national team from 2004-2011 from the best CB in Egyptian history currently playing in AL jaish in Qatar.
• Mamdouh Hashem Captain of the National team from 1980 to 1985 First Egyptian to play professional handball in Europe played for 2 years in Tuzem Essn club in Germany then he moved to Saudi Arabia as a professional player then as a coach. Later on he moved to Egypt where he took responsibility as the general manager of Al Zamalek club where he achieved with them many local and African championships.
• Khaled Elawady (Arabic: خالد العوضى‎‎) goalkeeper of Ahly club, one of the best goalkeepers in Egypt
• Hussein Zaky First Player To Play Abroad For Cuidad Real And Other Big Teams In Europe and was in the dream team of 2001 and was the goal top scorer the world Cup in France 2001.
