The 1998 Beach Soccer World Championship was the fourth edition of the Beach Soccer World Championship, an international beach soccer competition contested by men's national teams, which came under the auspices of FIFA in 2005 and was renamed FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. For the first time, 10 teams took part in the competition. The tournament continued to take place at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Organisation

This year the organisation had to be changed due to 10 teams taking part in the tournament. The teams were split into 2 groups of 5 teams, with 2 teams progressing to the semi-finals.

From the 10 teams, 4 teams came from Europe, 5 teams came from South America including the hosts Brazil and 1 team from North America.
