The 2004–05 NBA season was the Kings' 56th season in the NBA and 20th in Sacramento.[1]
It was the end of an era as center Vlade Divac, in the off-season, signed with the Lakers, where his career began, Doug Christie was traded to the Orlando Magic for Cuttino Mobley, and Chris Webber was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in February. Still, they managed a 50-32 record, clinching a sixth spot in the Western Conference. The Kings failed to make it out of the first round, losing to the defunct Seattle SuperSonics in five games.
