500 Fifth Avenue, located between West 42nd and 43rd Streets in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, is a 60-floor, 709-foot (216 m) office tower built in 1929-31 and designed by the firm of Shreve, Lamb & Harmon in the Art Deco style.[1][2][3][4] Constructed for Walter J. Salmon, Sr., it is adjacent to Bryant Park and the Salmon Tower Building, also built for Salmon.
It was the original transmitter site for CBS Radio's New York City FM station (W67NY, later called WCBS-FM) in 1941.[5]
The building was designated a New York City Landmark in 2010.
