A map of the 511 Bathurst route along with connecting services.

The 511 Bathurst is a streetcar route operated by the Toronto Transit Commission in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Route

The 511 Bathurst begins at a loop above Bathurst station, where it interchanges with the Bloor-Danforth line, and rounds south along Bathurst Street as far as Fleet Street, westwards along Fleet to Strachan Avenue, and then north-west on a private right-of-way, the latter two segments shared with the 509 Harbourfront, to Exhibition Loop, where it interchanges with GO Transit's Exhibition station on the Lakeshore West line.[3]

Late at night, the 511 Bathurst is replaced by the 310 Bathurst Blue Night bus, which also includes the route of the 7 Bathurst bus route, running further north on Bathurst to Steeles Avenue.

Operation

Route 511 is primarily operated with CLRVs. However, during special events at Exhibition Place, such as the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), additional service is provided using ALRVs. Most recently, such as during the 2015 Pan American, Parapan American Games at the "CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Park" sporting events as well as the 2015 CNE, the route also used some accessible Flexity Outlook vehicles, during which time all vehicles operated on a Proof-of-payment (POP) all door boarding system.

On December 14, 2015, POP and all-door boarding was restored to the 511 Bathurst route, along with the entire TTC streetcar network which also became fully Presto enabled that day. [4] This is in advance of the full rollout of Flexity vehicles on the line, which was expected to begin in mid-2016 but has since been pushed back due to the intention to launch the 514 Cherry route on King Street with the new vehicles first.
