A transcended academy figure by neoclassical painter Pierre Subleyras

An academy figure is a drawing, painting or sculpture in a literal manner, of the nude human body using a live model, typically at half life size.[citation needed]

It is a common exercise required of students at art schools and academies, both in the past and present, hence the name.[1]
