Aletris (Colicroot, Colicweed, Crow corn, Unicorn root) is a genus of flowering plants in the Nartheciaceae family, native to North America and to eastern and southeastern Asia, especially China.[2][3][4] It was used as a component in Lydia Pinkham's original Vegetable Compound. It contains diosgenin,[citation needed] a possible estrogen mimic, and is used as a medicinal plant.[medical citation needed]
