Club career

América

A striker by trade, López debuted for América's senior team in 2010, during a match against F.C. Atlas on February 6, 2010. Due to injuries afflicting the first-choice forwards for his club, López started two of the next three América matches. He has been said to be, "The most dangerous aerial threat Mexico has," by Jared Borgetti. Recalling his debut, López remarked: "The day of my debut was very happy, [I was] very glad, it's a matter of pride to play for this club. I have to work in order to take advantage of the opportunity that they're giving me within the senior squad, and be the best player on the pitch."

On March 7, 2010, López recorded statistically his best game as a pro. He scored 3 goals in a 6-0 victory over Querétaro FC. The first came on a header to make it 1-0. The second was a rebound after a Luis Alonso Sandoval shot was stopped by the goalie. The ball right at his feet with the goalkeeper down. The third came on a pass from Daniel Montenegro where he softly touched it with his left foot for the goal.

His fourth goal of the Bicentenario 2010 came against Pachuca FC. On a corner, Aquivaldo Mosquera headed the ball just past Miguel Calero and hit the post. On the rebound, López kicked it in for the goal in a 2-2 tie.

Several weeks later, López scored for a fifth time. In a game against Jaguares, a pass from Miguel Layún, López shot the ball that kissed the post and rolled in for the goal.

He is currently a substitute.
