1. Arrondissement of Fontenay-le-Comte, (subprefecture: Fontenay-le-Comte) with 107 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 119,665 in 1990, and was 119,403 in 1999, a decrease of 0.22%.
2. Arrondissement of La Roche-sur-Yon, (prefecture of the Vendée department: La Roche-sur-Yon) with 92 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 217,052 in 1990, and was 230,386 in 1999, an increase of 6.14%.
3. Arrondissement of Les Sables-d'Olonne, (subprefecture: Les Sables-d'Olonne) with 83 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 172,639 in 1990, and was 189,875 in 1999, an increase of 9.98%.
