Banga Bibhushan (Bengali: বঙ্গবিভূষণ) is a title instituted by the West Bengal Government to honour the services of personalities in various fields.[1] The Banga Bhushan ("Bengal ornament" বঙ্গ ভূষণ) award is also granted.
The award was conceived by Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal, on 25 July 2011. The first recipients of this title are Amala Shankar, Mahasweta Devi, Sandhya Mukhopadhyay, Supriya Devi, Manna Dey, Amjad Ali Khan, Dwijen Mukhopadhyay, Sailen Manna, Haradhan Bandopadhyay.[2]
