A bassoon sonata is a sonata for bassoon, often with piano accompaniment. Sonatas written for bassoon were relatively uncommon until the second half of the twentieth century. Occasionally, sonatas written for bassoon can also be performed on cello. The twentieth century also saw a greater proliferation of sonatas for solo bassoon and sonatas for bassoon in various duets with other instruments (such as cello or oboe). Unless otherwise noted, the pieces below are for bassoon and piano.
