Careya is a genus of flowering plants in the family Lecythidaceae first described as a genus in 1819.[2][3] It is native to the Indian Subcontinent, Afghanistan, Indochina, and Peninsular Malaysia.[1]

Tropicos[3] gives date of publication as 1811, but volume 3 was 1819.[2][4]
