Cleethorpes Town Football Club is an English football club based in Grimsby in North East Lincolnshire. The club are currently members of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

History

The club was formed in 1998 as Lincolnshire Soccer School by former Grimsby Town and Hull City player Tommy Watson.[1] In 2010, the club merged with LSS Lucarlys and joined the Lincolnshire League. After two seasons they joined the Central Midlands League but despite finishing in fourth place the club opted to drop down to the Humber Premier League where they stayed until resigning from that league during the 2009–10 season. During their time in the Humber Premier League, the club changed its name to Cleethorpes Town.[2] In 2010 they were back in the Lincolnshire League and spent two years in that competition before successfully applying to join the Northern Counties East League in 2012.[3]

On 9 July 2013 the club played their first match against Grimsby Town, losing 2–0 at home in a pre-season friendly.[4]

On 26 April 2014 the club were crowned champions of the Northern Counties East League Division One and promoted to the Premier division.

Stadium

The club operate a groundshare with Grimsby Borough, with both clubs playing at The Bradley Football Development Centre in Grimsby. The trivia surrounding the club is that they play their football in Grimsby, whilst the Town's professional side Grimsby Town play their football in Cleethorpes.
