Dačice (Czech pronunciation: [ˈdatʃɪtsɛ]; German: Datschitz) is a town in southwestern Moravia, currently belonging to the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 8,000 inhabitants. It is notable as the home of the sugar cube, which was invented there in 1843 by Jakub Kryštof Rad.

Until 1918, DATSCHITZ - DAČICE (DATSCHITZ in 1850) was part of the Austrian monarchy (Austria side after the compromise of 1867), in the district with the same name, one of the 34 Bezirkshauptmannschaften in Moravia.[1]
