Dawa wa Irshad (Arabic: دعوة و إرشاد) is a Saudi Wahhabist organization, whose name translates to "Call and Guidance".
Overview
American intelligence analysts have alleged that it is a terrorist group,[1] yet have employed the group to act as a mediator in discussions with Sunni militias in Iraq.[2]
Its office in Mauritania was shut down by authorities.[3]
Two of the allegations prepared for Guantanamo captive Mustafa Ibrahim Mustafa Al Hassan's Combatant Status Review Tribunal were:[1]
- "The detainee is associated with the Dawa wa Irshad non-governmental organization."
- "Dawa wa Irshad is a terrorist organization."
