Duplin County Airport (ICAO: KDPLFAA LID: DPL)[2] is a county owned, public use airport in Duplin County, North Carolina, United States.[1] It is located two nautical miles (4 km) northwest of the central business district of Kenansville, North Carolina.[1] This airport is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation facility.[3]

Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned DPL by the FAA[1] but has no designation from the IATA[4] (which assigned DPL to Dipolog Airport in Dipolog City, Philippines).[5][6]

History

Duplin County Airport opened December 16, 1964 when a University of North Carolina Medical School airplane landed on the runway.[7]
