The East Lansing Amtrak Station, in East Lansing, Michigan, is served by the Blue Water passenger train. It also serves as the intercity bus station for East Lansing, with a separate bus ticket counter and Greyhound and Indian Trails routes stopping at the station daily. It is located at 1240 South Harrison Road on the west edge of the Michigan State University campus, and is served by CATA routes 20, 35, 39 and taxicab service. Parking is free but is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The station has public restrooms, and vending machines, and the indoor waiting area is wheelchair accessible.
Baggage cannot be checked at this location; however, up to two suitcases in addition to any "personal items" such as briefcases, purses, laptop bags, and infant equipment are allowed on board as carry-ons.
The International Limited was operated jointly by Via Rail and Amtrak between Chicago and Toronto. The service, which had started in 1982, was discontinued in 2004.[2]

History
The station building was originally built as a storage facility for Michigan State University.[3]
Plans for a new station complex, the Capital Area Multi Modal Gateway, were announced in 2010, and originally include a new parking structure and improved bus facilities as well as bicycle parking.[4] The project was awarded a $6.3 million grant in July 2012 by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration, and by then the parking structure had been dropped from the plan. In addition to the construction costs, CATA will pay a $3.2 million long-term lease for the site. The station property will also serve the intercity bus services of Megabus, Greyhound and Indian Trails.[5] Site work began in late July 2014, and included demolition of the old Michigan State University Surplus Store and Printing Services buildings on-site.[6]
