Ferdia Walsh-Peelo (born October 12, 1999 [1]) is an Irish singer, musician and actor.[2] He is best known for playing the lead character Cosmo in the film Sing Street.

Education

Walsh-Peelo attends an Gaelscoil in Bray, County Wicklow.[3]

Career

Born in Ashford, County Wicklow, began his musical career as a boy soprano at the age of seven coached by his mother, soprano Toni Walsh.[3] Winning many prizes throughout his early years, we was eventually cast in Mozart's Magic Flute aged tewelve, which toured Ireland.[3] Walsh-Peelo followed this up with the part of Miles in Britten's Turn of the Screw.[3] In 2012, he appeared on Irish television, appearing on the famous Late Late Toy Show singing and playing piano.[3]

In 2016, Walsh-Peelo made his acting debut in the musical comedy-drama film Sing Street along with Lucy Boynton.[4] The film was directed by John Carney.[5]

He sings and plays guitar and piano, performing live with Sing Street co-star Mark McKenna after the film's showing at the Sundance Festival.[6]

He was signed by William Morris Endeavor in the USA and Independent Talent in the UK in 2015.[7]
