George Hyer

George Hyer was a member of the Wisconsin State Senate and the Wisconsin State Assembly.

Biography

Hyer was born on July 16, 1819 in Fort Covington, New York.[1] He was possibly related to Nathaniel F. Hyer, who would become a prominent Milwaukee, Wisconsin lawyer.

Hyer was first married to Catherine Keyes. They would have a son before her death in 1863. In 1867, Hyer married R. H. Fernandez. Hyer died on April 20, 1872 and was buried at Forest Hill Cemetery. His death received coverage in numerous newspapers.[2]

Legislative career

Hyer was elected to the Senate in 1850. He was later a member of the Assembly in 1863.
