Getter Robo Arc (Japanese: ゲッターロボ アーク Hepburn: Gettā Robo Āku?, pronounced also as "Āḥ" from the Sanskrit in the title) is a manga series created by Go Nagai and Ken Ishikawa and illustrated by Ishikawa himself. It was first serialized in Futabasha's Super Robot Magazine from 2001 to 2005, compiling into 3 Tankobon volumes until its premature cancellation. Taking place 10 years after both Shin Getter Robo and Getter Robo Go, it follows a new Getter Team led by Hayato to stop the invasion of both the Dinosaur Empire and the Andromeda Flow Country from invading Earth using the new mecha, Getter Robo Arc. An anime adaptation by Bee Media is scheduled to be released in July 2021.[1]

Plot

Ten years after the disappearance of Ryoma Nagare, Go Ichimonji and Messiah Tyr on Mars, the Saotome Institute is now under the command of Hayato Jin to train new pilots for protecting Earth against extraterrestrial threats both from within and beyond the planet. Of these individuals were Takuma Nagare, Ryoma's son; Sho Kamui, a human-dinosaur hybrid; and Baku Yamagishi, Messiah Tyr's younger brother. In the wake of the invasions between the remnants of the Dinosaur Empire and the swarm of technorganic insect-like aliens from the Andromeda Flow Country, the new Getter Team must work together to defeat both looming threats and using the new machine by the Saotome Institute: The Getter Robo Arc in order to protect humanity from its own extinction.

Manga

Getter Robo Arc was both co-written by Go Nagai and Ken Ishikawa, with Ishikawa illustrating the manga. Created as the third installment of the Getter Robo series after Getter Robo Go, it was serialized in Futabasha's Super Robot Magazine from 2001 up to 2005. However after all 3 volumes was published and "part 1" of the series has wrapped up, Ishikawa died on November 17, 2006, leaving the rest of the story unfinished.[3] Futabasha later republished the manga in 2007 in an Aizoban edition and later in 2016 in a limited Kanzenban edition.
