Gillingham Town Football Club is a football club based in Gillingham, Dorset, England. The club is affiliated to the Dorset County Football Association and is a FA chartered Standard club.[1] As of the 2014–15 season, they are members of the Western Football League Premier Division.
History
Founded on 14 November 1879, the club is the oldest in Dorset,[2] and joined the Dorset Combination in 1970. The league was later renamed the Dorset Premier, and Gillingham finished runners-up in 2002–03. They repeated this in 2007–08 and gained promotion to the Western Football League Division One.[3] They won the Dorset Senior Cup in 2009–10, beating Wimborne Town 2–1 after extra time in the final, on 13 April 2010.[4] The club was promoted to the Premier Division in 2011–12 after finishing third.
