Biography

Long was born in Paris, France in 1977 to a French mother and a British father.[2] He completed his studies at the University of London, where he earned a Ph.D. at the Institute for the Study of the Americas, a Masters in Political Sciences and a Bachelor of History at the School of Oriental and African Studies.[3] Long was a professor of History in several national and international universities.[1] Long was also a member of the Academic Council of the Consejo Académico del Instituto de Altos Estudios Nacionales (IAEN; English: Institute of Higher National Studies), and adviser to the National Secretary of Planning and Development.

On 6 May 2013, Long assumed the post of the Coordinating Minister for Knowledge and Human Talent, a position which promoted the creation of several universities in Ecuador.[4]

Long is currently serving as the chairman of the International Relations Committee in the PAIS Alliance, a socialist political movement led by Correa since May 2014.[2] He led the efforts to organize two conferences that brought together leftist political parties and movements from Latin America.[5]
