Hakea pandanicarpa is a shrub species in the family Proteaceae. It is endemic to south-west Western Australia. Plants grow to between 1 and 4.5 metres high and produce white, cream or greenish flowers between September and November and again in March in the species native range.[1]

The species was first formally described in 1830 by botanist Robert Brown who observed the species growing between Cape Arid and Lucky Bay. Brown's description was published in Supplementum primum prodromi florae Novae Hollandiae.[2]

The species is recognisable by the large fruiting bodies, up to 10cm in diameter, which mature to form thick, hard pods which can remain on the trunk for years.

Two subspecies are currently recognised:

  • H. pandanicarpa subsp. crassifolia (Meisn.) R.M.Barker
  • H. pandanicarpa R.Br. subsp. pandanicarpa
