The IPFW Mastodons men's basketball team represents Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The school's team currently competes in The Summit League. The team has never played in the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament. The Mastodons are coached by Jon Coffman and play their home games at the Hilliard Gates Sports Center and the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum[1].
Contents
History
The Mastodons' first season was 1973–1974. Twice All-American and conference player of the year Sean Gibson (1993) is current all-time leading scorer and rebounder and Hall of Fame member. Their first season in Division I was 2001–2002. In 2007, they began playing in The Summit League. Before joining NCAA Division I athletics, IPFW competed in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in the NCAA Division II.
In 2014, IPFW played in their first conference final as a Division I school.
