The United States Department of State estimates that between 2 and 5 percent of the population of Burundi is Muslim.[1] The vast vast majority of Muslims are Sunni, with a small minority being Shia.[2] Burundi is by constitution a secular state, although Eid ul-Fitr is among several national holidays.[3]
