In 2014, he joined TRS party and became the Vice President of Telangana Cinema Artists Association. In April 2015, he was selected as the Captain for Telangana Stars Cricket Team.

Career

Jai Akash began his career with Rojavaanam, produced by K.Balachander and named Akash by the same. Then, he entered Telugu film industry as a hero with the super duper hit film Anandam was directed by Sreenu Vaitla and produced by Ramoji Rao. He went on to work in both film industries, in turns: after acting in two Tamil films Roja Koottam and Pengal,[1] he acted in four Telugu films, "Neetho Cheppalani", "Manasutho", "June July"and the super hit "Pilistae Palukutha" before he returned to Tamil and played the lead in Inidhu Inidhu Kadhal Inidhu opposite Neha, which was a remake of Anandam also produced by Ramoji Rao. In 2004, he teamed up with Sreenu Vaitla again in Anandamanandamaye, which also became an average hit. That year, he also starred in the highly expected Tamil movie "Ramakrishna", from the makers of Ajith kumar's "Kadhal Kotai", but that movie didn't release on time due to the producer Sivasakthi Pandian's previous movie's deficit. Then, the movie got released on 24 December 2004, and Sunami attacked Tamil Nadu on the 26th, so the movie "Ramakrishna" didn't do commercially well. But, within a month the movie got telecasted for new year day on Jeya TV and Jai Akash's acting was highly appreciated and Akash received many offers from Tamil film industry. In year 2005, Jaiakash was the busiest hero in Tamil film industry as he had both Tamil and Telugu markets. He acted in "Amudhae" under the direction of Ezhil (Thullatha Manamum Thullum fame), "Sev Vale" with Rajkiran as his father, "Kaatrullavarai" under the direction of Radha Barathi, a mega budget "Guru Deva" in Telugu and Tamil, and "Kicha Vayashu 16" with Simran as Co star. In this period, he didn't act in any straight Telugu films. after two years gap, he entered Telugu films with the Super hit "Vasantham", as second hero with Venkatesh. After "Vasantham", Akash was the hot favourite for any second hero roles and Mega Super Good Films signed Akash for their three movies continuesly "Andhala Ramudu", "Navasantham", "Gorintaku". All these three movies became super duper hits and Akash was declared a Lucky Mascot for Telegu film industry. But, Akash didn't accept any more second hero roles and acted as hero and directed the critically acclaimed movie "Sweet Heart" produced by Devi Movies. But, in between did one more movie as second hero for his super hit film "Anandam" director Sreenu Vaitla in "Namo Venkatesha" with Venkatesh opposite Trisha.

Many of his Tamil films were either remained unreleased or had a delayed release and in his latter career, he directed and acted as hero in many films "Donga Prema" (Telugu), Love in Malaysia"(Telugu), Janma Janmala Bandhan"(Telugu), "Naan Yaar"(Tamil), "Romeo" (Tamil), "Jaishankar"(Telugu" and "One Sided Love" (English".[2][3][4] Jaiakash is a bankable star now as he makes movies fast and in low budget, which guarantees profits for the Producer's. His old Tamil movie "Amudhae", directed by Ezhil is getting dubbed in Telugu for release. It also stars Prakash Raj and Madhumitha.[5]

Controversy

In 2005, Jai Akash's Guru Deva released and failed at the box office. The Telugu dubbed version of the film, Guru also failed with Muppa Ankanna Rao, the executive producer of the version, failing to promote the film. Rao launched complaint to the police that Akash had hired attackers to threaten him for failing to publicize the film and subsequently Akash was arrested but later released.[6]

In 2009, Jai Akash filed a complaint to the Nadigar Sangam against actress Sunaina following allegations from her which claimed that she was not a part of the intimate scenes in the film, Madan and that Jai Akash as director had used a double.[7] Denying such reports, Jai Akash went on to claim that Sunaina was attempting to distance herself from the film.[8]

Personal life

Jai Akash was born and brought up in London. He finished his degree in Information Technology, and worked as an Analyst Programmer, before becoming the hero of Super hit Telugu film [Anandam]. He is married to Nisha, a non-resident Indian, and lives in London.
