Jaime Andrade Jr. has served as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives since his appointment in August 2013 to succeed now-Alderwoman Deb Mell as the representative for the 40th district.[1] He won his first election in 2014, and is seeking re-election as a Democrat in 2016.

A long-time resident of the Irving Park neighborhood,[1] Andrade's district is located on the northwest side of Chicago and includes Avondale, Irving Park and Albany Park.[2] From 1998 until his appointment to the General Assembly he was an assistant to former Chicago alderman Richard Mell; he was also a Legislative Assistant and Assistant Sergeant-At-Arms for the Chicago City Council.[3]

Andrade is a supporter of Marriage Equality, an Elected School Board, and a $15 Minimum Wage.
