JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable (Japanese: ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 ダイヤモンドは砕けない Hepburn: JoJo no Kimyō na Bōken Daiyamondo wa Kudakenai?) is the third season of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime by David Production, based on the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga series by Hirohiko Araki. This season covers Part 4 of the manga, titled Diamond Is Unbreakable. Set in 1999, 11 years after the events of Stardust Crusaders, Jotaro Kujo tracks down Josuke Higashikata, the illegitimate son of Joseph Joestar, to help him in seeking out a magical bow and arrow that grants people Stand powers. Along the way, Josuke and his friends discover that a Stand-using serial killer is on the loose in their hometown of Morioh and only they can stop him.
The anime adaptation of Diamond Is Unbreakable was announced at the end of "The Last Crusaders" event for the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders anime in Tokyo on October 24, 2015;[4] a teaser trailer was uploaded to Warner Bros. Japan's YouTube channel shortly after.[5] The series is being directed by Naokatsu Tsuda, with the screenplay by Yasuko Kobayashi, character designs by Terumi Nishii, and the score composed once again by Yugo Kanno. Diamond Is Unbreakable began airing in Japan from April 1, 2016 and is being simulcast by Crunchyroll.[3] The series' opening theme is "Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town" performed by The DU (Jun Shirota, Daisuke Wada, and Jeity),[6][7] while the ending theme is the 1996 single "I Want You" by Australian pop group Savage Garden.[8] An original video animation titled Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe will be available to those who purchase every Blu-ray disc release of the series.[2][9][1]
To avoid potential copyright infringement, the names of some characters and Stand names, such as those based on real-life celebrities or pop culture, are altered in official English releases of the series. This article uses the original Japanese names.

Yasuko Kobayashi | April 1, 2016 |
In April 1999, eleven years after his battle against Dio, Jotaro Kujo travels to the town of Morioh to look for a boy named Josuke Higashikata. After first running into a timid boy named Koichi Hirose, Jotaro comes across Josuke as he fights with some upperclassmen who injured a turtle and insulted his hairstyle, discovering that he possesses a Stand that has the power to heal wounds. Jotaro then introduces himself, revealing that Josuke is the illegitimate son of his grandfather, Joseph Joestar, thus technically making Josuke his uncle. When Jotaro inadvertently insults his hairstyle, Josuke brings out his Stand Crazy Diamond[lower-alpha 3] against Jotaro, who narrowly avoids serious injury thanks to his Stand Star Platinum's ability to temporarily stop time. Afterwards, Jotaro informs Josuke that a dangerous Stand user and serial killer named Anjuro "Angelo" Katagiri is hiding out in town, and he warns Josuke to stay away from him. Following their first day of school, Josuke and Koichi come across a burglar taking a convenience store clerk hostage. When the burglar insults Josuke's hair, Josuke steps in and uses Crazy Diamond to save the store clerk and implant the burglar's knife inside the man's own body. However, Josuke discovers that the burglar was being possessed by Angelo's Stand, who then threatens Josuke that he will kill him and his family next.
2 | 76 | "Josuke Higashikata! Meets Angelo" "Higashikata Jōsuke! Anjero ni Au" (東方仗助! アンジェロに会う) |
Yasuko Kobayashi | April 8, 2016 |
The next morning, Angelo stakes out the Higashikata residence, nearly killing Josuke's mother Tomoko with his Stand Aqua Necklace after he tries to trick her into drinking it, but Josuke traps it inside a bottle before it can possess her. Later, Angelo, still in control of Aqua Necklace remotely, sees that Josuke's grandfather Ryohei is the police officer who managed to arrest and capture him years earlier, and he transforms Aqua Necklace's water into brandy order to trick Ryohei into setting him free, and allowing Angelo to take his revenge by killing him. Upon trying to revive his grandfather by healing his wounds, Josuke discovers that Crazy Diamond cannot bring people back from death. Josuke sends his mother away while he and Jotaro try to figure out how to stop Angelo, only to realize that they have become trapped in the house by Angelo's powers during a rain storm, as he had drilled holes in the roof to flood it all. Angelo tries to kill Josuke by vaporizing Aqua Necklace in a humidifier and entering Josuke's mouth through breathing, but Josuke has managed to trick Angelo as he had swallowed a rubber glove earlier. The two then find Angelo's physical body, and Josuke takes revenge for his grandfather's death by trapping Angelo in a stone in a central square in Morioh.
3 | 77 | "The Nijimura Brothers, Part 1" "Nijimura Kyōdai, Sono 1" (虹村兄弟 その1) |
Yasuko Kobayashi | April 15, 2016 |
Angelo reveals to Josuke and Jotaro that a man in a school uniform gave him his Stand after he was shot by the man with a peculiar bow and arrow, and mentioning Dio's name. However, it is all a ruse to distract the two of them long enough to attack a nearby child with Aqua Necklace, but Josuke attacks him once more with Crazy Diamond, permanently trapping Angelo into the rock, unable to speak ever again. Jotaro theorizes that the bow and arrow in question are what gave Dio, and by extension himself and others in the Joestar family, Stand abilities, and he decides that he will remain in Morioh to investigate this new discovery. The next day, as Josuke and Koichi head out to school, Koichi realizes that an abandoned house across from Josuke's place seems to be inhabited, only to be attacked by one of its residents Okuyasu Nijimura and then shot by Okuyasu's brother with the bow and arrow Angelo mentioned the previous day. Josuke rushes to heal Koichi, but Okuyasu brings out his Stand The Hand to attack Josuke with its ability to erase whatever his right hand touches, including the space between himself and Josuke. Josuke uses this to his advantage by making Okuyasu inadvertently launch some potted plants at himself. With Okuyasu knocked out, Josuke heads inside the house to rescue Koichi from Keicho.

Shogo Yasukawa | April 22, 2016[10] |
As Josuke enters the house, he is nearly attacked by something in the shadows, but Okuyasu who has attempted to attack him, again, is instead hit by an attack from his brother Keicho's Stand Bad Company.[lower-alpha 4] Josuke heals Okuyasu's wounds, and heads back in the house, where Okuyasu repays his kindness by helping Josuke avoid a possible trap from his brother so Josuke can save Koichi. The two try to escape the house, but are trapped once more by Bad Company, an entire army of toy soldiers complete with tanks and helicopters. Josuke struggles to escape with Koichi, who at one point warns Josuke of an incoming attack, revealing that the bow and arrow has awoken a Stand within him. Keicho stops his attack on the two in order to see Koichi's new Stand ability, only for Koichi to summon a seemingly useless egg which just barely begins to hatch. Keicho then continues his attack on Josuke, attacking with a missile barrage, but just as it seems Josuke is surrounded by Keicho's Stand, he manages to repair some of the destroyed missiles and fire them right back at Keicho, seemingly defeating the elder Nijimura brother.

Josuke and Koichi worry that the bow and arrow could be used to cause more damage, so they go up into the attic to search for it in order to destroy it. They find the bow and arrow in the attic, as well as a mutated creature that is revealed to be Okuyasu and Keicho's father. Keicho reveals that his father had a flesh bud implanted in him by Dio to be made into one of his servants, but after Dio's death, the man was mutated into an inhuman creature that cannot be killed by conventional means. He has since been using the bow and arrow to create a Stand user to put his father out of his misery, as all he does is search through an old chest all day and he cannot even remember his sons' faces. Josuke uses Crazy Diamond on something he spots in the chest, revealing that the Nijimuras' father has in fact been trying to piece together an old torn up family photograph, revealing he still has memories of his old life. Josuke offers to help Keicho and Okuyasu find a way to cure their father in exchange for the bow and arrow, but Keicho refuses, just as Josuke spots someone watching them from a skylight. Keicho is then attacked by the electric Stand Red Hot Chili Pepper[lower-alpha 5] who threatens Josuke and drags Keicho into a nearby electrical socket, killing him and stealing the bow and arrow. At Jotaro's hotel, he receives a warning from Red Hot Chili Pepper's user to leave and not interfere. The next day, Okuyasu shows up at Josuke's house, saying he is now his classmate.

Koichi rides his bike on his way to school, and unintentionally runs over what he thinks is a cat in a burlap sack. Nearby, the cat's alleged owner Tamami Kobayashi tries to blackmail Koichi into paying for the cat, before bringing out his Stand The Lock to literally weigh Koichi down with his own guilt. Okuyasu and Josuke soon arrive to help him, but Kobayashi tricks Okuyasu into feeling guilty for punching him and knocking him down and falling under the thrall of The Lock. However, Josuke discovers that the cat was fake and also heals Kobayashi's injuries, freeing both Koichi and Okuyasu. However, Kobayashi still gets away with all of Koichi's money. When Koichi returns home that day, he discovers Kobayashi is there waiting for him. He tricks Koichi's mother into thinking Koichi had stolen from him activating The Lock on her, and reveals that he had already tricked Koichi's older sister and placed her under the power of The Lock. Koichi's anger at Kobayashi finally awakens his Stand Echoes, but after trying to attack Kobayashi, it is revealed that Echoes has very little physical strength. However, Kobayashi soon discovers that Echoes' true power is over sound, driving him mad with a constantly repeating sound effect. Kobayashi tries to take his revenge by tricking Koichi's mother and sister into thinking Koichi had stabbed him, trying to drive Koichi's mother to kill herself, but Koichi uses Echoes to convince his mother of the truth, ultimately freeing her and Koichi's sister from The Lock's power as well. After this, Kobayashi resigns himself to be Koichi's servant.

The following day, Kobayashi tells Josuke and Koichi about a Stand user in their school named Toshikazu Hazamada who allegedly caused his friend to gouge his own eye out. While investigating Hazamada's locker, Josuke comes across a wooden dummy which turns out to be Hazamada's Stand Surface, which turns into a copy of Josuke and takes control of his movements, apparently severely injuring Koichi in the process, and then making Josuke stab himself in the eye. Hazamada then plans to use his copy of Josuke to draw out Jotaro to kill him, and he heads to the train station to set up a trap, attacking two bikers along the way. However, Josuke and Koichi are revealed to be fine, with Josuke having healed Koichi just as Surface made him strike him, and Koichi using Echoes to trick Hazamada into thinking Josuke had stabbed himself. The two then use their Stands' powers to reach Jotaro before Hazamada and Surface can, but before they can stop him, Josuke is trapped by Surface's controlling abilities once more, with Hazamada taking the opportunity to try to kill Jotaro, but he is stopped by an attack from the bikers he had threatened earlier, as Josuke had healed their injuries and told them of his plans.
8 | 82 | "Yukako Yamagishi Falls in Love, Part 1" "Yamagishi Yukako wa Koi o Suru, Sono 1" (山岸由花子は恋をする その1) |
Shogo Yasukawa | May 20, 2016 |
Koichi meets classmate Yukako Yamagishi at a café only to be surprised when she confesses her love for him, and even more surprised when she loses her temper at the thought of being turned down. After she leaves, Koichi looks at his drink, again, it is full of her hair. The next day, Yukako apologizes for her actions, only to be interrupted by a class representative who verbally puts Koichi down. Later that day, Yukako confronts the class rep, who then is nearly burned alive by the actions of Yukako's remotely controlled hair. Josuke and Okuyasu manage to save the other student, and realize that Yukako has a Stand and will endanger Koichi. They try to convince Yukako that Koichi is not the stand-up man she thinks he is, which only makes her decide to kidnap Koichi later that night to discipline him to be the man she wants him to be. Using his recently failed English exam as a source of inspiration, Yukako tortures Koichi by forcing him to eat pages out of an English dictionary for failing her "tutoring" quiz. Koichi tries to escape the abandoned summer villa she has trapped him in, but she keeps him in line with her Stand Love Deluxe's power. However, Yukako does not know that Koichi has a Stand of his own, and he tries to think of a way to use that to his advantage.

Shogo Yasukawa | May 27, 2016 |
When Yukako leaves the house to go shopping at a nearby payphone, Koichi uses Echoes to implant sounds on her arm that call Josuke's home phone, clueing him and Okuyasu onto his location at a beachside villa. Yukako heads back to the house, angry that she was tricked but happy that Koichi also has a Stand, as it brings them closer together. Koichi tries to insist to Yukako that he hates her with Echoes' abilities, but she ignores the message and attacks him once more with Love Deluxe. As he worries for his own well being, Echoes undergoes a metamorphosis, transforming it into the smaller Echoes Act 2. Yukako is not threatened by the change, but is soon literally blown away by Echoes Act 2's new power to turn sound effects into physical actions. After being thrown out onto a cliff during the fight, her hair turned stark white, Koichi uses Echoes to ensure she is still alive, but she wakes up and strangles the Stand with Love Deluxe. Koichi tries to warn her that Echoes detected that the cliff is about to break, but Yukako believes it is only a trick, until it is too late and she falls to what she believes is her death. However, before her attack, Echoes Act 2 had implanted the sound effects "Boingy-Boing" on a sharp rock at the base of the cliff, saving Yukako's life. Josuke and Okuyasu finally catch up to Koichi, while Yukako looks at him with an even stronger love for him in her heart, as he still saved her even after all that she had did to him.
