John Charpentier (1880 – 1949) was a writer of French expression. Born in Paris to a French father and an English mother, Charpentier was a novelist, historian, librarian and regular reviewer of fiction for Le Mercure de France among other periodicals, noted in particular as biographer of such authors as Alexandre Dumas, Rabelais, Voltaire, Baudelaire, Molière and Musset.
