John Rubey (born October 5, 1951) is Fathom Event's first CEO.[1][2] Rubey previously was President of AEG-TV and Network LIVE [3] where he produced many events for Fathom and others. Rubey founded and owned Spring Communications a leader in Pay-Per-View special events.

Early life

Rubey was born on October 5, 1951, in Evergreen Park, IL to Charles and Catherine Whalen-Rubey. His dad was a sales executive for Schwartz Paper Company while his mother tended to John and his six siblings

Education

He holds a B.S. in accounting and economics from Regis University. 18 years after graduating John returned to school at the University of Houston to obtain an MBA. John also has a CPA (‘74) from the state of Colorado. While at Regis University John ran the activities board which included anything from concerts and films to dances and other student activities.

Career

John Rubey is Fathom Events’ first CEO, bringing the alternative content leader more than 25 years of digital content and entertainment marketing experience. Previously, Rubey served as president of Rubey Entertainment where he was responsible for the overall vision, entertainment marketing, digital content development and execution of the company’s strategic initiatives.

Prior to Rubey Entertainment, he oversaw the filming and distribution of all AEG-TV and AEG Network LIVE’s music festivals to leading content distributors including: VEVO, YouTube, HULU, Yahoo!, MySpace and others, in addition to festival and artist sites, mobile phones and high-definition TV. He was also directly responsible for capturing the industry’s top music festivals and concert performance in digital 3D for cinema distribution worldwide. With more than a decade of experience partnering with Fathom Events as a content provider, Rubey brings a unique perspective to his role as CEO.

In addition to being the President of AEG Network LIVE, Rubey previously founded and owned Spring Communications, a leader in Pay Per View concerts and events, and held the position of COO of PACE Management (now LIVE Nation), for over six years prior to Spring Communications.[4][5]

Personal

John and his wife, Donna Rubey, reside in Los Angeles alongside their four children, Melissa, Andrew, Roger and Tim. Rubey is heavily involved with the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation was honored the Arts & Life Achievement Award by Arts & Living Magazine in 2012.[7]
