This List of Houston Cougars head football coaches includes those coaches who have led the Houston Cougars football team that represents the University of Houston in the sport of American football. The Houston Cougars currently compete in the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and have been members of the American Athletic Conference since the 2013 season. Fifteen men have served as the Cougars' head coach, including two who served as interim head coaches, since the Cougars began play in the fall of 1946.[1] The current coach, Tom Herman, made his debut at the beginning of the 2015 season.

The Cougars have fielded a team every season since 1946.[1] During that time, nine coaches have led the Cougars in postseason bowl games: Clyde Lee, Bill Yeoman, Jack Pardee, Art Briles, Kim Helton, Chris Thurmond, Kevin Sumlin, Tony Levine, and David Gibbs. The Cougars have won 11 conference championships[2] under seven coaches.
