Aerospace (or aeronautical) engineering can be studied at the bachelors, masters and Ph.D. levels in aerospace engineering departments at many universities, and in mechanical engineering departments at others.

Institution names are followed by accreditation where applicable. The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredits 2 institutions in Turkey while the others are in United States of America.

Brazil

In Brazil the B.Sc, M.Sc and PhD degrees in Aerospace Engineering are offered by universities like: Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina – UFSC at Joinville campus, Universidade Federal do ABC – UFABC at Sao Bernardo do Campo campus, Universidade de São Paulo – USP at São Carlos campus, Instituto Tecnologico de Aeronautica – ITA, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais – UFMG and Universidade de Brasília - UnB at Gama campus. The admission for these courses features among the most difficult in Brazil, partly due to its competitive Vestibular (similar to ACT and SAT in USA).

Bulgaria

Canada

In Canada, undergraduate degrees in aerospace (or aeronautical) engineering can be earned at Carleton University, École Polytechnique de Montréal, École de Technologie Supérieure, the Royal Military College of Canada and Ryerson University. Undergraduate aerospace engineering options, or related programs, are available through Concordia University, McGill University, Ryerson University, the University of Manitoba and the University of Toronto. The Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board is responsible for accrediting undergraduate aerospace engineering programs,[6] graduate study in aerospace engineering is also available at several Canadian post-secondary institutions, though Canadian post-graduate engineering programs do not require accreditation.

In Québec, École Polytechnique de Montréal, McGill University, Laval University, Université de Sherbrooke, Concordia University and École de Technologie Supérieure offer a joint program in the field of aeronautics and space technology leading to a M.Eng. (Aero).

Only undergraduate engineering programs in Canada are accredited,[6] and this is done by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board.

Chile

China

In China, Beihang University (BUAA: formerly, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics), Nanchang Hangkong University(Nanchang University of Aeronautics), Northwestern polytechnical University and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) are regional leaders in the field of aerospace engineering education.

Pakistan

Aerospace Engineering is a relatively new profession in Pakistan. At present, three institutions offer degrees in Aerospace Engineering and related disciplines. Most graduates of these institutions are hired by Pakistan's strategic organizations involved in the missile and space programs. Also the Pakistan Air Force trains its own engineers who are either a part of its engineering branch or the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex which is responsible for maintaining the PAF fleet and for manufacturing the JF-17 Thunder aircraft.

United Kingdom

In the UK, Aerospace (or aeronautical) engineering can be studied at the B.Eng., M.Eng., MSc. and Ph.D. levels at a number of universities. The first institution in the UK to teach in this field was Queen Mary, University of London,[159] which, with the dissolution of the University of Paris (whose chair was founded at around the same time[160]), maintains the longest continuous experience of doing so in the world. The Times' top 10 universities are University of Cambridge, University of Surrey, University of Bristol, University of Southampton, Queens University Belfast, University of Sheffield, University of Bath, Imperial College London, Loughborough University and University of Nottingham for 2010.[161] The Department of Aeronautics at Imperial College London is noted for providing engineers for the Formula One industry,[162] an industry that uses aerospace technology. Cranfield University is also known to produce the largest number of postgraduates in the UK with an aerospace engineering related degree.[163]

United States

The programs of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Rutgers University, University of Southern California and Missouri University of Science and Technology are examples of American schools.[164] In 2009, U.S. News & World Report ranked the undergraduate aerospace engineering programs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Georgia Institute of Technology, and the University of Michigan as the top three best programs at doctorate granting universities in the United States. The other programs in the top ten were Purdue University, California Institute of Technology, University of Maryland, University of Illinois, Stanford University, University of Texas at Austin, and Virginia Tech in that order.[165]

In 2015, the U.S. News & World Report rankings for graduate programs were: (1) University of Michigan, (2) Massachusetts Institute of Technology, (3) California Institute of Technology,(3) Stanford University , (5) Georgia Institute of Technology, (5) Purdue University, (7) University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, (8) University of Texas at Austin, (9) University of Colorado at Boulder, (9) Princeton University, (9) Cornell University, where parenthesis indicate the ranking and the same number indicates a tie in scores.[166] The magazine also rates Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the United States Air Force Academy, and the United States Naval Academy as the premier aerospace engineering programs at universities that do not grant doctorate degrees.[167] University of Kansas School of Engineering has earned more first and second place AIAA awards than any other academic institution in the world in the 42-year history of the competition.[168] Wichita State University is renowned for its Aerospace Engineering program and also has the third highest research budget for Aerospace Engineering in the United States.[169][170]

Aerospace (or aeronautical) engineering can be studied at the advanced diploma, bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. levels in aerospace engineering departments at many U.S. universities, and in mechanical engineering departments at others. A few departments offer degrees in space-focused astronautical engineering. U.S. News & World Report ranks the aerospace engineering programs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Georgia Institute of Technology, and University of Michigan the within the top three best programs for doctorate granting universities. However, other top programs within the ten best in the United States include those of California Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Texas A&M University, the University of Texas at Austin, Purdue University, Princeton University and the University of Illinois.[171] The magazine also rates Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and United States Air Force Academy as the premier aerospace engineering programs at universities that do not grant doctorate degrees.[172]
