History
Malden is perhaps best known for the Kanawha Salines salt wells. Famous people from Malden include General Lewis Ruffner, his wife Viola Ruffner, and Booker T. Washington. Kanawha Saline(s) post office was established in 1814 and discontinued in 1879.[2]
Malden is home to the West Virginia State University owned Booker T. Washington Park.
The African Zion Baptist Church and Malden Historic District are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.[3]
