Marcia Frederick

Marcia Frederick is the first American gymnast to win a World Gymnastics Championship. She won gold in the uneven parallel bars in Strasbourg, France in 1978.[1][2][3] After having been named to the 1980 Olympic team, she was the favorite for gold In Moscow but missed due to a boycott led by the United States. She instead won vault gold at a meet that served as an alternate olympics for countries effected by the boycott.
