Madia was born in Rome in 1980. Her family came from Calabria and settled in Rome. Her great-grandfather, Titta Madia, was a lawyer, a journalist, and a deputy in the 1950s. Her father was the politician, journalist and actor Stefano Madia.

She considers herself a practising Catholic and she personally opposes abortion, even if she supports the law allowing it in Italy.[1]
