Nickel Flicks was one of Nickelodeon's inaugural programs, showing old 30's and 40's serials and early comic one-reelers. Films shown included Flash Gordon, Rin Tin Tin, and other films starred Buster Crabbe, Tom Mix, John Wayne, Bela Lugosi, and Gene Autry.[1] The program was produced, written, and hosted by John Moschitta, Jr. who would go on to greater fame by starring in FedEx commercials as being the "World's Fastest Talker". Episodes were taped in Columbus, Ohio. It aired on Nickelodeon three times a day, seven days a week beginning in April 1979.[2] It was off Nickelodeon by early 1980.
