Nord-Frøya is a former municipality in Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. It municipality comprised the northern part of the island of Frøya and all of the small islands to the north and northeast such as Sula, Mausund, Froan, and Halten.[1] Sletta church (or Nord-Frøya church) is located on the northern tip of the island of Frøya.
History
The municipality of Nord-Frøya was established on 1 January 1906 when the old municipality of Frøya was divided into Nord-Frøya (North Frøya) and Sør-Frøya (South Frøya). Its initial population was 3,972. On 1 January 1964, the two municipalities were reunited as Frøya. Nord-Frøya's population was 4,348 at the time of the merger.[2]
